For this reason, buyers of alpaca clothing should look for wool without animal cruelty certificates. The alpaca wool that we use to make our clothing has been awarded the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS), a certificate that guarantees that alpaca wool is obtained in a way that is appropriate for the animals.
A common misconception about baby alpaca is that the wool is obtained from small alpaca babies. This is due to the unfortunate choice of term "baby alpaca". Baby alpaca wool is the finest and softest alpaca wool. It is obtained from protected body parts of adult alpacas and has nothing to do with young alpacas.

How do I care for my women's alpaca pullover?
The good news first: Alpaca pullovers are easy to care for, unlike cashmere, and can be washed as often as you like. Since alpaca wool has a high self-cleaning power, you can wash your alpaca pullover less often. It airs out well in the fresh air and the protein molecules neutralize sweat odors.
You can wash your women's alpaca pullover in the washing machine or by hand. In the washing machine, select the gentle wool wash cycle, set the temperature to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and spin at a maximum of 600 revolutions per minute. We recommend that you use gentle wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Do not put the alpaca pullover in the dryer, but instead let it air dry flat. Your alpaca sweater does not need to be ironed as it is hardly prone to creasing.
